From time to time, YouTube allows a restricted group of users to test new experimental features. The video streaming behemoth has lately experimented with large playback controls on iOS and search filters on Android. YouTube is currently testing a new grid style for search results.
Grid Layout In YouTube’s Search Results
We were prompted earlier today to try out the new “search results in a grid layout on desktop” functionality. Enabling this feature, as should be obvious, will display the search results in a horizontal grid rather than a vertical list. That means you’ll get more YouTube video results for your query on the search page now.
In the image below, you can see how the horizontal grid arrangement for the search results will look. While I like that more search results may be displayed on a single page, there is no option to expand the number of columns. On this new search screen, there are just three columns and three results in each row.
Over the last few months, YouTube has been testing the grid style with users. Several people have discovered the functionality and shared screenshots on Twitter and Reddit.

However, opinions on this shift are varied. The majority of them dislike the change, but what are your thoughts? In addition, if you wish to test out the new grid structure for search, just have a look at the YouTube’s webpage showing new feature.
