How to Install Mi A1 Android One Rom on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

Xiaomi gave the surprise a few months ago when it presented its new mobile with Android One, the Xiaomi Mi A1, abandoning its Android layer to collaborate with Google’s initiative. Now the community is taking the system to other brand mobiles and so you can do it.

A few months ago there was a success with the ROM port of Android One for the Xiaomi Mi 5X. The 5X and the A1 are, in essence, the same mobile in terms of specifications, so that the adaptation of the operating system could be done without major complications.

However, now we find the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, a smartphone whose hardware does differ from what the Xiaomi Mi A1 offers. This leads to some technical difficulties that we will see below. The first step, like so many other times, is that you have rooted your mobile. If you do not know how to do this, You can search google or follow XDA Forums on it.

So you can install Android One on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

Once you’ve rooted your phone, download the Android One ROM and put it on your phone, no matter if it’s internal or external memory. If you have problems with that link, you can use this one. Once this is done, restart your phone in recovery mode.

When in recovery mode, select the ROM and it will start to install. The process will last a few minutes and once completed, your Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 will start with Android One as if you had a Xiaomi Mi A1.

Yes it is true that the port is not perfect, so you will lose two functions. The first is the fingerprint sensor , which will stop working correctly. The second is the infrared sensor , which will not work either. This is due to hardware differences between devices, although it is possible that the developer or others can fix the errors in the future.

Otherwise, you will enjoy a pure Android experience. ROM is multilingual and comes with several of the Google applications. The last security update of this version is the one of September of 2017, month of exit of the Xiaomi Mi A1.

You can see the installation of the ROM and how it works in the next video. If you want to try it for yourself, remember that some functions are not 100%, so keep that in mind before you launch.
