In early 2019, Xiaomi released the Mi 9 SE, the world’s first Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 smartphone. It debuted alongside the Mi 9 and Mi 9 Explorer Edition (aka Mi 9 Transparent Edition). The device launched with MIUI 10, which is based on Android 9.0 Pie.
Xiaomi Mi 9 SE Global Variant Gets Update For MIUI 12.5 With Android 11
It was later upgraded to MIUI 11, then to Android 11 and then to MIUI 12. The device is now receiving the MIUI 12.5 upgrade in international regions, two years after its initial release.
In late March, Xiaomi began rolling out the MIUI 12.5 update for the Chinese model of the Mi 9 SE. The upgrade also introduced Android 11 to this phone, as the company previously stated in December 2020.
The same update is currently being sent to the internal variations of this smartphone. The Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 update for the Mi 9 SE with build number V12.5.1.0.RFBMIXM is currently available for the ‘Global’ version.
The software build stated above is branded ‘Stable.’ As a result, the update should theoretically be available for all Mi 9 SE Global variants. In any case, because OTA updates are notorious for their phased deployment, it may take some time for all devices to receive them.
Finally, the last two foreign variations of the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE, namely ‘EEA’ and ‘Russia,’ should receive the MIUI 12.5 upgrade based on Android 11 in the coming days.
