According to market research company UBI Research, the OLED panel industry, particularly the mid-to-large-sized units globally, experienced a tremendous rise in demand during the first quarter of this year. This resulted in a 156 percent increase in sales over the prior quarter in Q1, 2020.
Surge In Sales For OLED Panels In Q1 2021
Mid-sized and large-sized OLED screens are utilised in TVs, monitors, laptop computers, and tablets. This set’s 10-inch panel is the smallest. According to UBI study, revenues from the category contributed for around $1.45 billion, a 17 percent increase over Q4 of 2020, but a 156 percent increase over last year’s equivalent revenues.
The amount was primarily influenced by laptop and TV OLED panels, with TV OLED panel shipments totaling around 1.6 million units in the three months ending March 31, 2021. The comparable shipment of Notebook OLED panels was around 1.1 million units. According to these figures, televisions accounted for almost 82 percent of overall sales.
During the first quarter, exports of OLED panels smaller than 10 inches out of South Korea increased as well. Approximately 140 million units were delivered during the quarter, representing a 32.4 percent increase over the previous quarter. These are the panels found in smartphones, smartwatches, and other compact gadgets.

Through its display unit, Samsung Display, the research company ranks Samsung as a prominent provider of OLED panels. Samsung accounts for 79% of tiny panel exports, while LG accounts for 11%.
