Reliance Jio collaborated with Google last year to create an entry-level smartphone using the Android operating system. It took a little longer than planned to debut, but it now appears like it will happen shortly.
Reliance Jio Collaborated With Google For Designing New Android Smartphone
According to ETTech, which cited sources familiar with the situation, Reliance may unveil a cheap smartphone in India before Diwali. It comes as the COVID-19 situation in India improves, and demand is expected to peak by then.
The phone, which is being designed in collaboration with Google, has already passed the R&D stage, and the business is looking into procuring components from companies like Tata Electronics.
According to the study, it is now being tested at the production facilities of Wingtech Mobiles, Dixon Technologies, UTL Neolyncs, and Flextronics Technologies. As previously said, the phone is expected to be priced about $50, and pre-orders may begin in India in the coming months.
According to one of the senior executives, Google’s duty is to optimise the gadget’s software, while Chinese Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) Wingtech will design the hardware and other suppliers will assemble the gadget.
The features and pricing of the future smartphone might be unveiled during Reliance‘s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 24th, although the actual release date might be a few weeks or months later.
