Recently updated image editor Pixelmator Pro for Mac has announced a half-price sale, and revealed a further sneak peak of its forthcoming Machine Learning-powered cropping tool.

Following the latest in what’s proved to be a regular stream of significant updates, Pixelmator Pro 2.0.8 is now on sale for half price.

The developer has also announced that its promised ML-based cropping tool will be launched in Pixelmator Pro 2.1. “Ot analyzes the composition of photos using a machine learning algorithm and gives you a suggestion for how you could crop the photo to make it more eye-catching,” says the company in a blog post.

“Above all, we want this feature to just be fun,” continues the developer, “giving you some different perspectives for a common photo editing task.”

Pixelmator Pro already includes Machine Learning features such as Super Resolution, which enlarges images while retaining crispness.

The Mac image editor is a native Apple Silicon app that usually costs $39.99. For an unspecified limited time, it’s available for $19.99, and users who buy this version will get the forthcoming Pixelmator Pro 2.1 update for free.
