Reliance Jio has maintained its lead in the country for 4G download speeds. According to data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Jio subscribers had an average 4G download speed of 20.7 Mbps in May, the highest among India’s carriers.
Jio Leads In 4G Download Speeds And Vi Leads In 4G Upload Speeds In India
Reliance Jio’s 4G download speed was 4 times faster than Airtel’s and 3 times faster than Vivo’s average 4G download speed, according to TRAI statistics (Vodafone Idea).
In May 2021, Jio experienced a 3% improvement in average 4G download speed. In April, the average download speed was 20.1Mbps, while last month it was 20.7Mbps.
While Jio maintained its top spot in terms of average 4G download speeds, it was surpassed by Vodafone Idea (Vi) in terms of average upload speeds.
According to TRAI statistics, Vi had the fastest average 4G upload speed of 6.3Mbps, allowing the business to outperform its competitors.
In terms of average upload speed, Jio came in second with a 4.2Mbps average 4G upload speed, followed by Airtel’s 3.6Mbps average upload speed.
It’s worth noting that this is the first time TRAI has published Vodafone and Idea’s combined statistics since their merger in 2018. Even after the merger over three years ago, the authorities had previously maintained individual data for both firms.
Meanwhile, despite having already brought out 4G services in several parts of the nation, state-owned telecom provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) did not make the list.
