AppleCare Protection Plan for Apple TV extended to three years | AppleInsider

    [ad_1]

Following the launch of AppleCare+ for Apple TV in April, Apple on Tuesday extended the standard AppleCare warranty plan for its set-top streamer by offering an additional year of coverage.

Apple informed existing AppleCare Protection Plan for Apple TV customers of the change in policy through an email delivered Tuesday, reports MacRumors.

According to the short note, Apple TV customers who opted for the AppleCare Protection Plan are covered for up to three years after purchase. Previously, the plan only covered two years of technical support and hardware service options. Accidental damage is not covered as part of the plan.

The extension kicks in automatically and is free of charge.

Today’s announced change arrives two weeks after Apple introduced AppleCare+ for Apple TV alongside the unveiling of a refreshed Apple TV 4K.

Like other AppleCare+ products, the commitment for Apple TV extends the usual one-year limited warranty and 90 days of technical support to three years after purchase date. In addition, customers receive up to two incidents of accidental damage every 12 months, with each claim costing $15 plus tax. Priority access to technical support is also included.

AppleCare+ for Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD costs $29 and covers the main unit, Siri Remote and power cord. Customers can purchase the service when buying a new device or separately within 60 days through Apple’s website, at an Apple Store or by telephone. A recurring monthly fee is also available.
